Quality Evaluation Trial Undertaken By Macquarie University and The University of Newcastle

In the first half of 2007 Macquarie University undertook a Quality Evaluations Trial in collaboration with the University of Newcastle. In this Trial individual staff portfolios were evaluated by Panels of external assessors with high international profiles. External Engagement and Knowledge Transfer Audit

In 2008, Macquarie University undertook an audit of the extent of engagement with, and knowledge transfer to, the end users of research undertaken 2003 -2007. Announcement of New Research Quality and Evaluation System
- Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)
On Tuesday 26 February 2008, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced his plans for a new research quality and evaluation system, the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative.
