To create a researcher profile and set up email alerts for funding opportunities from SPIN, click on the 'My Portal' link from within the SPIN Database. New users will need to create a profile using the 'Get Profile' link on the 'My Portal' log in page. To access the SPIN Database, click on the button 'ACCESS THE SPIN DATABASE' below. here you will find the 'My Portal' Link or simply search for funding opportunities.
Currently, SPIN is only available from Macquarie University computers (those with Macquarie University IP addresses)

National Library of Australia Harold White Fellowships 2011
Applications for 2011 Harold White Fellowships at the National Library of Australia are now open, and close on 30 April 2010.
Harold White Fellowships are awarded to enable established scholars and writers to undertake research at the National Library for periods of between three and six months. The Fellowships provide a return economy fare to Canberra, a living allowance, a fully equipped office and special access to Library collections and services. Honorary Fellowships are also awarded to scholars and writers who do not require financial assistance but would benefit from other privileges associated with the Fellowship.
Research projects supported by Harold White Fellowships can be in any discipline or area in which the Library has strong collections. Past Harold White Fellows have undertaken research in fields including Asian studies, history of science, biography, media history, Australian history, musicology, religious history, anthropology, children's literature, art history, politics, Indigenous history, Australian literature, Pacific studies, eighteenth century studies, geography, international relations and folklore.

The Alport Foundation of Australia - Research Grants Communication
The Alport Foundation of Australia supports all areas of research relevant to Alport Syndrome and related kidney disorders.
The Foundation is currently calling for Project and Grant in Aid applications. Funding will be granted up to the value of $20,000 for projects which meet the objectives of the Foundation.

The American Australian Association is calling for applications for 2010 Australia to US Fellowships
The Association offers Fellowships of up to US$25,000 to Australian researchers wishing to undertake advanced research (graduate or postgraduate) in the U.S.
Through these Fellowships, the Association encourages intellectual collaboration and innovation, building on the strong economic and social partnerships between Australia and the United States.

Anthony Rothe Memorial Trust
Grants of up to $80,000 per annum to cover salaries for research workers and maintenance costs for research projects into the causes, prevention and treatment or cure of leukaemia and allied blood disorders.
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research in the US.
Helping to lead the way toward important medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives, NIH scientists investigate ways to prevent disease as well as the causes, treatments, and even cures for common and rare diseases.

The Dan David Prize (sponsored by Tel Aviv University) is currently calling for scholarship applications in 2010.
Ten scholarships will be awarded of US $15 000 to outstanding doctoral and post doctoral students from universities all over the world.

How to apply
*Grant applications that have been checked by the Faculty Research Administration Staff prior to approval by the appropriate Department and Faculty must be submitted to the Research Office one week before the external closing date. Grant applications that have not been checked by the Department/Division must be submitted to the Research Office three weeks prior to the granting body's closing date for the following reasons:
- to allow Research Office staff to check each application for correctness
- to allow the applicant time to make any recommended revisions
- to have the budget approved by the Finance Office
- to have the application signed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research)
