Project Scope
Broadly the scope is defined as covering back-office and reporting functions of the Research Office and the HDRO, along with self-service support for specific aspects of researcher, student and division/department/centre activity.
In terms of research IRIS covers:
- Internally funded research where funding is currently administered by the Research Office.
- Externally funded research.
- External collaborative research, whether or not Macquarie is the lead institution.
- Internal and external higher degree students where there is a research element to their studies.
In addition IRIS will aim to pilot self-service grant applications within a Division.
Profiling of outputs by researcher
Commit to deliver
- Recording of all publications and research outputs
- Categorisation of publications and research outputs
- Identification of groupings, codings and related information to allow for analysis of areas of research activity and groups of researchers within the university
- Online access to researchers for review/correction
Aim to deliver
- RQF reporting if requirements are defined
- Citations or other indicators of research impact

Grants and contracts administration

- Grant Applications processing

- Pilot of internal scheme(s) including online applications

Executive/Management Reporting

- Reporting of research activity for all areas and levels, including groups or steeples as defined
- An agreed list of standard reports
- Pilot of self-service graphical reporting
- Generation of outcomes correspondence

- Self-service graphical reporting for all management, once software module is available from supplier

External Reporting

Portia for HDR Students/Supervisors
Commit to deliver
- Portia: Supervisor and Student communication, progress, tracking and reporting for an agreed subset of the HDR clients, to be agreed with HDR management and negotiated with potential users (initially a pilot).
- Consumed EFTSL (completion rate from Student One)

- University-wide use of PORTIA for Supervisor and Student communication, progress, tracking and reporting
