The Higher Degree Research Office

The Higher Degree Research Office (HDRO) is the contact point for research degree enrolment at Macquarie University. HDRO manages research degree candidature and scholarship applications, admissions, enrolment, progression, thesis submission and degree completion. HDRO works closely with the Divisions of the University, the Dean of Higher Degree Research and the Higher Degree Research Committee. Our aim is to provide excellent service and specialised knowledge of Macquarie's research training activities to all commencing and continuing candidates, as well as to staff.

Annual Progress Reports due in October for Macquarie's research degree candidates. Sunflower

In July, the Higher Degree Research Committee endorsed a proposal for enrolled research candidates to download and attach a copy of their IRIS publications report as part of the Annual Progress Report (APR) process. The University encourages research candidates to prepare publications as part of their research thesis. Eligible publications can be logged into IRIS and HDR candidates can prepare for the APR requirement by ensuring that all IRIS publication entries are fully up to date. For any enquries about IRIS, candidates can contact the IRIS Helpdesk. When the APR process starts, an alert email will be sent to the Macquarie student email address of all enrolled research candidates.

World-Class Joint Enrolment Research Flower Opening

Information about the world-class research activity of Macquarie PhD candidates Deanne Bird and Julie Bednarski is available at The Macquarie Globe. Deanne is jointly enrolled in her PhD at the University of Iceland and is investigating public perceptions of volcanogenic hazards. Julie is researching the visual perception of jumping spiders and is jointly enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Amhurst. They are part of a growing number of Macquarie PhD candidates jointly enrolled with leading international universities.
