LING/PSY MQRES Cognitive Science & Philosophy PhD Scholarships

Two Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES) for PhD research are available in the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science (MACCS) at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. The PhD projects in Cognitive Science and Philosophy will address the conceptual foundations of the cognitive sciences, through study of a specific domain or theoretical framework.
MQRES scholarships are available to domestic or international students. Applicants should have equivalent research qualifications to an Australian undergraduate degree with first class honours (such as a Masters degree with a substantial thesis component) in a relevant discipline (such as philosophy, psychology, or a relevant social science).
The scholarship pays a living allowance, currently $20,007 per annum, tax exempt (2008), and the tenure is a maximum 3.5 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure. Additional support for projects and for national and international travel will be available from the Centre. Opportunities for research assistance work and other professional development activities will be available for suitable applicants.
